This week is no different than any other week for Florida backup quarterback John Brantley.
OK, it’s dramatically different. But as a backup quarterback, you go into every week expecting and preparing to play.
If not, there’s no way you’re ever going to be ready if they call your number.Brantley is ready, at least as ready as he’ll ever be on such short notice, if Tim Tebow can’t play this Saturday against LSU.
“You never know when your opportunity is going to come, so you always have to be ready,” Brantley said. “I think about that every week. You’re always just one play away.”
Whether Tim Tebow will play Saturday against LSU probably won't be determined until game time, Florida coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday.
Meyer said any announcement about Tebow's playing status wouldn't come "until the foot hits the ball down there."
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is reading, watching television, attending class, studying film and doing just about everything else he was before his concussion.
Except practicing.
Florida coach Urban Meyer said Monday that his star player has not been cleared to return to the field or play against No. 4 LSU on Saturday night. But Meyer said the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner is no longer dealing with post-concussion symptoms.
"From what I understand, there's no symptoms and I think he's cleared to act like Tim Tebow," Meyer said. "Everything but practice right now. I know he's allowed to watch TV. Earlier in the week he wasn't allowed to do anything focused. I guess that's normal protocol. And then after a week they acclimate."

The Gators battle the Tigers @ 8pm this Saturday. HUGE GAME! Still no word on Tebow's availability to play. If anyone hears updates, let us know in the comments.
The sweat was still thick on Charles Scott’s brow Saturday evening when he ignited the official countdown to The Game.
LSU hadn’t even had time to celebrate its thrilling 20-13 victory over Georgia when the subject invariably turned to next week.
The Florida Gators.
“We’ll feel great for another hour or so and then we’ll start thinking about Florida,” said Scott, whose 33-yard touchdown run with 46 seconds to play won it for the Tigers.

Florida blew out Kentucky 41-7, but the real story was the loss of Gators QB Tim Tebow, who was knocked out of the game with a nasty concussion. The CFN writers give their thoughts on where Florida might go from here if Tebow is out for any significant length of time.

One locker is filled with eye-catching items. There's a shiny pair of golden cleats resting in the shoe rack. A laminated list that says "Sweet Revenge" in Spanish is tacked to the side, naming every cornerback that the Bengals receiver plans to burn this season.
The contents of Chad Ochocinco's cubby make it clear: Diva at work.
Two lockers down, receiver Andre Caldwell stores his stuff. No list, no bling, no fancy thing. He's got two rosaries hanging around his neck as he stops to chat. He's wearing ordinary gym shoes, jeans and a sleeveless shirt that shows off his tattoos, including the face of Jesus on his left biceps.
Urban Meyer has been highly complimentary of the people at the University of Kentucky for the way they treated Tim Tebow after his concussion last Saturday night.
Monday, Meyer thanked Kentucky coach Rich Brooks for checking in on Tebow on behalf of his team. Tuesday, Meyer and Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley wrote a letter to the editor in the Lexington Herald-Leader thanking UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart, the UK medical staff and anyone else involved in helping care for Tebow.
The full text of the letter:
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank the University of Kentucky Athletics Department for its generous assistance and overwhelming support extended to the Florida football program and in particular, Tim Tebow and his family during our visit to Lexington this past weekend.
